The Issaquah History Museums continue their program of events for the public with two activities scheduled for the coming weeks.

On Saturday, April 4, author Ruth Eckes will give a presentation of working life on the Northern Pacific.

Eckes began work as a telegraph operator for the Northern Pacific starting in 1944. She worked at rail stations throughout the region, including one day as substitute telegrapher at the Issaquah Depot.

Ruth is the author of “Rail Tales,” “Whistles in the Night,” “Blow the Whistle Softly,” and other anthologies of railroad experiences.

For more information contact Erica Maniez at 425-392-3500 or info@issaquahhistory.org.

On Sunday, April 5, Stephen Grate will lead an interpretive hike of the Issaquah-Superior mine site. This walking tour will focus on the operations of the Issaquah and Superior Mining Company, from the 1860s until the 1920s, and will visit the remains of mine entrances from this era. There is a fee of $6 per person for the hike, or $3 for members.
