The Pacific Sound Chorus won first place at the state Sweet Adelines International chorus competition held Saturday, April 4, in Spokane.

As state champions they will now advance to the international competition, to be held at the Key Arena in October of next year.

There they will compete against more than 30 of the top regional choruses from around the world.

Issaquah and Sammamish residents Jill Landback, Shirley Roberts, Anne Marie Rohaly and Jeannie Grace are just some of the Eastside women in the chorus, united by their love for music and singing four-part a cappella harmony.

One of the missions of the choir is to continue to offer vocal production education to any woman that wants to keep on singing after high school.

The chorus holds weekly rehearsals on Tuesday at the Stroum Community Center on Mercer Island.
