September 2, 2010 · 4:03 PM
Following last month's primary elections, the candidate race for local representatives in the various state and federal seats now begins in earnest, ahead of November's general election.
With candidates on the campaign trail, the Sammamish Kiwanis Club has invited prospective representatives to meet with the vital local community group to discuss pertinent issues and press their case for election.
State Representative District 5, Position 2 Democratic candidate David Spring has accepted the invitation and will sit down with Kiwanis at their meeting Oct. 6.
At the time of going to press, Spring's opponent, Republican Glenn Anderson, had not replied to the Kiwanis' invitation.
State Representative District 5, Position 1 candidates, Democrat Greg Hoover and Republican Jay Rodne will speak at Kiwanis' Sept. 29 and Oct. 13 meetings respectively.
Republican Dino Rossi and Democrat Patty Murray, candidates for Washington's U.S. Senate seat, have not yet replied to the Kiwanis club.
Sammamish Kiwanis welcomes all residents to attend their breakfast meetings, which are free, and open to the public.
Meetings are held 7 - 8 a.m. each Wednesday, at Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church, kitty corner from Sammamish City Hall.
