Local schools finish at top of Scholastic Cup competition

Four schools in the Issaquah and Lake Washington school districts were top 20 finishers in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's annual Scholastic Cup.

In the 4A division Issaquah High School finished eighth overall, while Eastlake finished ninth and Skyline High School was 12th.

In the 3A division locally Liberty High School finished 20th and Eastside Catholic finished 27th. Sammamish High School finished 40th in the 3A classification.

The Wells Fargo Scholastic Cup Championship competition is held throughout the school year as a way to display academic, sportsmanship and athletic excellence. Points are distributed to schools based on participation and finish at the various WIAA state tournaments throughout the year.

In other schools news the Eastlake High School boys soccer team was honored as the 4A academic champions with a cumulative grade point average of 3.48.
