The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) announced that WAVE Aquatics had been selected as their preferred pool management organization for the Juanita High School pool.

“We are very pleased to have received two extensive proposals for managing the Juanita Pool,” noted Deputy Superintendent Janene Fogard. “I appreciate the work that went into them and the willingness to partner with us to offer this community resource.”

The goal for the school district was to eliminate the $150,000 pool operating cost from its budget.

The district was faced with cutting $7.7 million after state budget cuts in the last legislative session.

If no organization was found to take over pool management, the district was faced with closing the pool.

Lake Washington School District and WAVE Aquatics have begun the next step, which is negotiation of a more specific operating agreement.

The targeted transition date for WAVE Aquatics to begin management of the pool is Sept. 1.

The pool will continue to operate on its normal schedule in July and will close for regular annual maintenance in August.

More information will be available in August on the pool schedule for September and beyond.

The Juanita Pool schedule and information is available on the Juanita High School Web site, at www.lwsd.org/jhs.
