Council approves latest annexation

The Sammamish City Council Tuesday night voted unanimously to approve the annexation of the Rosemont at Timberline subdivision into the city.
As Community Development Director Kamuron Gurol said prior to the council vote on the ordinance, this meeting represented the last required action before the annexation became a reality, following the collection of the signatures of Rosemont residents, preliminary approvals from the council, and a hearing with the King County Boundary Review Board. That board approved the annexation request on July 9.
Rosemont at Timberline is a small area to the north-west of the Sahalee Golf and Country Club, and includes just 14 homes. The homes have an estimated tax valuation of about $14 million, and were built in the past three or four years.
It is predicted the annexation will have a slightly positive, or at least neutral, impact on the city’s finances, as the area will require little or no investment in infrastructure in the near future, and will bring in considerable property tax revenue based on the value of the homes.
Due to the newness of the neighborhood’s infrastructure, particularly the roads, the annexation process proceeded fairly smoothly, with staff on Tuesday night commenting that they were pleased the process was now concluded.
The annexation will take effect on July 31, 2009.
