Crusader volleyball takes second

The Eastside Catholic volleyball team came up just shy of a state title Friday, falling to Shadle Park of Spokane, 25-18, 25-16, 25-19 in the championship match.

The Crusaders, who were searching for the school’s first state volleyball championship, cruised through the opening rounds of the tournament. EC defeated Kennedy 17-25, 25-18, 25-12, 30-28 in the opening round match, Nov. 20. The Crusaders followed that up with a 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-19 victory over Mount Spokane. EC defeated Lakes 22-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-18.

Eastside Catholic finished its season with 21-3 record.

Eagles go two and out

The Issaquah volleyball team took one of the top teams in the state to five games, but came up just shy at the 4A state tournament Saturday.

The Eagles lost 25-10, 25-27, 19-25, 25-12, 15-5 to Kentwood in the opening round. Issaquah followed that up with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-23 loss to Edmonds-Woodway.

The Eagles finished their season at 12-7.
