Issaquah rallies from behind to beat Jackson

Issaquah trailed most of Wednesday night's 4A state tournament opener, but battled back in the last five minutes to beat Jackson 58-55.
The Eagles, who trailed by as many as nine, took their first lead at the 5:25 mark of the fourth quarter when sophomore Maddey Pflaumer knocked down a pair of one-and-one free throws for a 50-49 lead. Issaquah never gave the lead back.
Things got close, however. Up three with 8.9 seconds left, senior Alexa Smith had a chance to ice the game for Issaquah. She missed two free throws, however, and Jackson pushed the ball up the court with no timeouts. The Timberwolves' Chanel Sam got off a potential game-tying three-pointer but it missed wide right. Smith rushed back after her missed free throws to harass the shot.
Issaquah was led by senior Erin Nicols' 18 points. Smith had 12 points and nine rebounds and Pflaumer had all 10 of her points in the second half. She was 6-for-6 from the line in the second half and also had eight rebounds.
Kristen Stoffel led Jackson with 14 points.
Issaquah will play Federal Way at 8:30 p.m., Thursday in the quarterfinals at the Tacoma Dome.
