Eastside Catholic came up short of keeping its playoff hopes alive Thursday night, falling 41-27 to Seattle Prep.

The Crusaders, who needed a win to force a potential three-way tie for the final two spots in the Metro Mountain division, started out strong.

Eastside scored first on a 20-yard double-pass from Alec Kimble to Luke Nelson.

The Panthers ripped off 28 unanswered points, however, over the next three quarters. Running back Nick Holt, son of University of Washington defensive coordinator Nick Holt, scored on a 6-yard run, and a 56-yard fumble return. He tacked on an 80-yard interception return for a TD later in the game.

The Crusaders battled back in the third quarter to pull within a touchdown when quarterback Connor McCormick found Nelson for an 11-yard TD. That's as close as Eastside could get, however, as Prep's defense locked down to secure the No. 2 spot in the Metro Mountain. Eastside Catholic committed four turnovers for the game

The Crusaders finished in fourth place of the Metro Sound with a 2-3 league and 3-5 overall record.

Eastlake stomps Garfield

Eastlake cruised to a dominating 56-0 victory Friday night over Garfield, keeping their season alive.

The Wolves were led by Cameron Hunt, who ran for a school record 212 yards on 17 carries and four touchdowns. The senior scored on runs of 52, 33, 1 and 29 yards.

Kyle Lappano added two TDs to Eastlake's scoring barrage, rushing in for a 13-yard TD, and intercepting a pass for a 65-yard score. Quarterback Kelby McCorkle found receiver Riley Hill for a 25-yard TD, and Sam Gillis ran in another TD from 25 yards out.

Eastlake improved to 2-3 in league and 5-3 overall with the win. The victory earned them a trip to a three-team tiebreaker against Newport and Redmond at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Lake Washington High School. The Wolves won a tiebreaker allowing them to sit out the first game and face the winner of Redmond-Newport for a chance at the third and final playoff spot in the KingCo Crest.

Spartans crush Mustangs

Skyline finished its KingCo 4A Crest season undefeated Friday night, thumping Redmond 42-7 on its home field.

Quarterback Jake Heaps completed 20 of 27 passes for 329 yards and three TDs. Two of those went to Kasen Williams. Heaps also found Jordan Simone for a 19-yard TD. Nick Washburn and Kai Jandoc added rushing TDs for the Spartans and backup quarterback Max Browne — a freshman — hit Jim Carnes for a 45-yard TD.

Skyline moved to 5-0 in league and 7-1 overall with the win. The Spartans face Bothell in a much-anticipated rematch of last year's KingCo 4A title game at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29.
