Second Cash Mob coming to Issaquah

On the heels of its inaugural Cash Mob in April, the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its second go-around during National Small Business Week at 4 p.m., May 23.
The business being mobbed will be revealed on the group’s Facebook page on May 16.
Gilman Village-based Lucky You, which was the first recipient in April, sold nearly $3,000 in merchandise in one day.
"The positive response from our first Cash Mob has been overwhelming," said Nathan Perea, director of membership development for the Issaquah Chamber. "It’s become very clear that people are eager to help support our local merchants and have some fun in the process. It’s very exciting."
In most cases, "mobbers" are asked to spend around $20 each, but any amount will do.
A recently formed group of Chamber Members, known as Young Issaquah Professionals — or YIPpies — is the mastermind behind orchestrating this extreme version of local shopping.
"We’ll be trying different times, days and locations for our mobs," said the group's Chairwoman Audrey Slade. "Moving this mob to an early evening start time, will hopefully allow more people to take part at the end of their workday."
Several businesses had either inquired or been nominated for consideration as the next mob site. All the names that were submitted were reviewed and a choice was made by The YIPpies after a lengthy discussion.
"People who want to take part in our Cash Mobs can like our Facebook page to find out where we'll be," said Perea.
