Issaquah’s Twin Cedars Winery wins awards

Issaquah's Twin Cedars Winery received three top honors at this year’s Seattle Wine Awards.

Issaquah’s Twin Cedars Winery received three top honors at this year’s Seattle Wine Awards. Its 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (Rattlesnake Hills) received a Double Gold, its 2011 Syrah (Red Mountain) took Gold, and its 2013 Chardonnay (Snipes Mountain) received a Silver.

Twin Cedars Winery has produced limited-release wines for sale since 2011. Winemaker Rod Ahrens, wife Dona, and family began producing and bottling wines for sale at their Tiger Mountain homestead in 2010. Their first white table wine, “Rich Chardonnay,” receiving a Silver award from this year’s Seattle Wine Awards, was specially blended and released last summer to celebrate their daughter’s wedding.

The Seattle Wine Awards, judged by top local and national wine professionals, represents the highest recognition a winery can earn in the state of Washington.

The winery is located at Tiger Mountain just off the Issaquah-Hobart Road. Tasting Room is open most weekends from noon to 5 p.m. or by appointment. More information is available online or 425-392-0543.
