Sammamish offers community reading event

June 28, 2012 · Updated 12:20 PM

Sammamish residents are invited to participate in the city-wide reading event, All Sammamish Reads, this summer.

Garth Stein's "The Art of Racing in the Rain: A Novel" was picked as the novel in which community members will focus on.

The goal is to have the entire community read the same book and participate in a variety of events, including discussion groups related the themes in the book throughout July, August and September.

To make the city-wide reading program inclusive, Stein’s juvenile fiction title, "Racing in the Rain: My Life as a Dog" will be provided for children.

The reading event will conclude at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 11 in a conversation with Stein at the Eastside Catholic gym.

Copies of the two selected titles are available for check-out at the Sammamish Library. Copies will also be available to borrow at other locations around town.

Call the library for more details and information about specific events 425-392-3130.

This year's event is operated by the Sammamish Library, the City of Sammamish, the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce, Eastside Catholic School and the Sammamish Friends of the Library.
