Walk-a-thon fundraiser Friday
October 16, 2012 · Updated 3:59 PM
The school custodian at Issaquah Valley Elementary School has vowed to shave his head if the kids at Issaquah Valley Elementary reach the goal set for Friday's walk-a-thon fundraiser. The school is raising money for enrichment programs at the school.
Kids from kindergarten to fifth-grade will walk for 55 minutes in five shifts around the quarter-mile track. The goal is to raise $50 per walker, or $25,000.
Co-chair Lizz Eng said local companies are providing kids with sports bottles and reusable tote bags.
The theme is "Walk on the Wild Side," since the Cougar is the school's mascot.
Walk times are 8:50 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. You can either make a fixed pledge or pledge a fixed amount of money per lap. Eng said most kids walk up to 25 laps.
Issaquah Valley Elementary is located at 555 NW Holley in Issaquah.
