Homegrown movie makes film festival lineup

A film made by, and starring, two Issaquah residents has been selected to screen at the heralded Seattle True Independent Film Festival (STIFF).
Directed by Bjorn Anderson, and featuring Maureen Francisco in front of the camera, "Eyes in the Dark," is a horror film that was shot in the atmospheric forests of the Cascade Mountains. The film’s plot features an unknown force hunting down unsuspecting travelers near Snoqualmie Pass.
“I’ve always found that our own imaginations can come up with something far creepier than anything we can put up on screen," Anderson said in a release from the film's creators. "So I limited the exposure of the creature to the audience. You never really see what is out there, and when we don’t know what we are facing, our natural reaction is fear.”
The cast and crew were made up entirely of local talent found in the Seattle area.
STIFF opens June 4 and runs through June 13.
"Eyes in the Dark" will screen at 7:45 p.m., Saturday, June 5, at the Jewelbox Theater at the Rendezvous in downtown Seattle.
Tickets are available at the door, or at the festival website, www.trueindependent.org.
