One of Seattle hip-hop’s most respected groups, Blue Scholars, will headline the Sammamish Teen Fest at Sammamish City Hall this Friday. “Blue Scholars,” known for their intelligent, philosophical lyrics and an eagerness to shake the violent, profit-driven reputation of many of their peers, have long supported the Sammamish event. Also returning to the big stage is Issaquah’s “If I Were a Gladiator,” following a raucous set at last year’s Teen Fest that is still talked about on the Plateau. Local band “To Paint The Sky” join the lineup for the first time this year, sure to please those who like their music on the heavy side. The music starts at 5 p.m., with the first band expected to take the stage at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5. Earlier in the day, the City of Sammamish will host a skate competition at the Sammamish Skate Park. The skate comp will kick off at 1 p.m. Entry is $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents, and is for ages 13 to 21. There will be free hot dogs at the skate competition, and free pizza at the gig.
