Good news for southbound travelers this weekend: The Washington State Department announced Wednesday it had canceled a planned closure of State Route 18 from Interstate 90 to Issaquah-Hobart Road Southeast, citing expected rain.

WSDOT had scheduled routine maintenance on that section of the highway, along with a section in Auburn.

The transportation agency’s web page tracking Puget Sound construction on roadways had not listed an amended time for the work as of 10:31 a.m. Thursday.
