Issaquah council member Joshua Schaer announced his bid for the November 2011 election.
So far no one has announced plans to challenge Schaer. It's now one of two seats up for grabs this November, after a council woman stepped down last month for health reasons.
In addition to a long list committees Schaer serves on, he also chairs the council's transportation committee.
He drafted an ordinance requiring restaurants in the city only use recyclable and compostable food packaging in fall 2010.
"Shaping the future of our community is a great honor,” said Schaer in a press release. “I look forward to another four years of creating practical solutions, while continuing to advocate for fiscal responsibility."
Schaer was endorsed by Council President John Traeger; Councilmember Tola Marts; former Councilmembers Maureen McCarry, David Kappler and John Rittenhouse; and former Issaquah Arts Commissioner Barbara de Michele.
