Black bears in Sammamish
July 5, 2012 · 10:24 AM
An inquisitive Black bear stopped on the south loop trail around Hazel Wolf preserve July 2. It was of two recent bear sightings in Sammamish by resident Dick Whitten. A few weeks ago, Whitten spotted bear tracks about a mile north of Grand Ridge. Because of recent rain, the trail had thick, fresh mud, which made it easy to see that a sow and her cub had been by just a short time before. Whitten followed the tracks for more than a quarter of a mile along the trail. A pen shows the size of the paw print.
