Northeast Eight Street paving to be finished by July 18

July 13, 2012 · 10:42 AM

Sammamish's major work for repaving Northeast Eighth Street from 228th Ave NE to 244th Ave NE, which began yesterday, is expected to be completed by Wednesday, July 18.

The major construction work includes removing and replacing the old surface layer of pavement in the travel lanes and placing a new layer of pavement over the whole roadway surface for additional pavement strength.

The roadway will be open to traffic at all times. However, much of the work requires that the travel lanes be reduced to one shared lane with flaggers controlling the direction of traffic.

Here's the schedule:

- Thursday and Friday (July 12 and 13)– Remove and replace the old pavement surface in the travel lanes.

- Monday and Tuesday (July 16 and 17) – Place a new layer of pavement over the whole roadway.

Driveways will be open for the majority of the work. Temporary short duration closures will occur at driveways while the pavement is being placed and compacted.
