Homecoming will impact Sammamish commute Friday evening

October 3, 2012 · 5:52 PM

The northbound lanes of 228th Avenue in Sammamish between Discovery Elementary and Southeast Eighth Street will be closed to traffic between 4:30 and 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, to clear space for Skyline High School's annual homecoming parade.

Northbound drivers will be routed onto one of 228th Avenue's southbound lanes during the parade to preserve two-way traffic at all times.

Police recommend, however, that drivers use 212th Avenue and 244th Avenue as alternative routes to ease congestion.

The annual parade is set to being at 5 p.m. and lanes are scheduled to reopen at 6 p.m. Skyline is scheduled to play Ballard at 7 p.m. for its homecoming football game.

All lanes of 228th Avenue are expected to be open by 6 p.m.

Eastlake and Eastside Catholic also have their homecoming games scheduled for Friday night.
