Eastside Firefighter announces his retirement after 30 years

Eastside Fire & Rescue Volunteer Fireighter Kevin Refvem will retire on June 10 after 30 years in the fire service.
Refvem began as a volunteer in 1978 when he joined the Issaquah Fire Department and quickly moved to King County Fire District 10 where he worked out of Station 101 in downtown Issaquah.
In 1987 Refvem moved to the North Bend area and served out of that station for six years.
After returning to Issaquah, Refvem rejoined District 10 which was now known as EF&R. He was promoted to Volunteer Lieutenant in 1994.
Refvem’s family has a long history of serving the community. His father served as King County Fire District 10 Fire Commissioner in the 1980s.
Refvem, his wife Ti, and their three children, Heather, Michael and Lindsey all live in the area.
Refvem will be honored in a ceremony at the next EF&R Board meeting at 4 p.m. on June 10 at the EF&R Headquarter station at 175 Newport Way NW.
