PCFC conversion to middle school won't happen next year
December 19, 2011 · Updated 8:12 AM
The conversion of Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus to a middle school will be delayed at least one year, Issaquah School District officials announced.
Initially officials had planned that the conversion would take place in 2009. However, district leaders have now decided that the change won’t take effect until 2010 due to numerous delays in the construction and renovations going on at Issaquah and Skyline high schools.
The majority of the delays have occurred at Skyline High School, where the city of Sammamish issued a stop work order this summer after construction crews jumped the gun and started clearing before the permits were all in order.
The final straw though was Issaquah High School, where the project earlier seemed to be going smoothly. City of Issaquah officials announced that they would like to look again at the school’s traffic mitigation plan, which was part of what prompted school officials to announce the delay last week.
