Community members are invited to a groundbreaking celebration for Issaquah’s sustainable home demonstration project, called zHome, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 29. The project is a 10-unit townhome community in the Issaquah Highlands, designed to achieve several benchmarks, including zero net energy use. The project is a collaborative effort spearheaded by city of Issaquah officials, and designed and built by Seattle-based Howland Homes, in partnership with Puget Sound Energy, Built Green, King County, Port Blakely Communities and the Washington State University Energy Program. The event, which will also include several examples of “green” features that will be incorporated into the homes, will be held on Northeast High Street between Highlands Drive Northeast and 10th Avenue Northeast (just east of the Highlands Park and Ride). For more information, call 837-3400.
