Park Pointe proposal discussed at committee meeting

Issaquah's Major Development Ad Hoc Committee, formed to discuss the Park Pointe proposal, met last week to receive more information about the process.
Park Pointe was originally planned to be a large development. However, a recent proposal would delegate the Park Pointe land on Tiger Mountain as open space for the city. Port Blakely will also be allowed to increase development on their land and will give some more land for open space.
The committee went over several possible traffic scenarios for traffic mitigation in the Highlands following the expanded development that is part of the proposal.
The city has hired Nelson and Nygaard, a consultation firm from Portland, Ore., to come up with a list of potential optionss.
Some of the suggestions include expanded mass transit, cash incentives for drivers to take fewer single occupancy trips and a bike-to-work system.
The committee will look again at transportation on Oct. 27.
Its next meeting will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 13 in the Pickering Room at City Hall Northwest, 1775 12th Ave. N.W.
