New principal at Challenger Elementary
December 19, 2011 · Updated 8:30 AM
Issaquah School District Superintendent Steve Rasmussen announced Monday, March 16 that he had found a fit for Challenger Elementary’s vacant principal position - Dr. Sue McPeak.
McPeak is currently the principal at Clark Elementary.
Challenger’s current principal, Robin Earl, will be moving to the temporarily-titled Elementary 15 on the Sammamish Plateau in July.
Rasmussen took into account input from a parent survey and fellow district officials when he began searching for a new principal. The search was limited to in-district candidates.
McPeak has been at Clark for nine years, and is involved in special education issues throughout the district.
“She truly enjoys interacting with students, staff and parents,” Rasmussen wrote in a press release. “She is naturally able to galvanize entire communities around the most important thing: students and their education.”
District officials hope to find a replacement for McPeak at Clark Elementary by the end of April.
