On Tuesday, June 2 at 11:40 a.m., Eastside Fire and Rescue was called to a school bus fire located behind the Issaquah School District bus garage. A school district employee spotted what he thought was a fire coming from one of the buses parked along a fenced area. He pulled a fire extinguisher from the garage and came back out to extinguish the flames when he noticed that the fire was coming from the brush and trees and not the bus. When firefighters arrived on scene, the fire had spread nearly 100 feet, moving rapidly through the dry dead and downed leaves and brush, scorching the surrounding trees. Fire crews were able to stop the brush fire before it moved into the nearby apartments.
