The City of Issaquah’s Planning Policy Commission will hold a public hearing on the Shoreline Master Plan (SMP). The draft SMP public hearing will be July 30 at 6:30 p.m. in city council chambers on E. Sunset Way. The program, which applies to shorelines in the state, includes Lake Sammamish and Issaquah Creek. The regulations cover land located within 200 feet of those shorelines and nearby wetlands. The rules help protect the shoreline environment and provide for water-oriented uses, single-family residential development and public access. The last SMP in Issaquah was adopted in 1990, and since then new neighborhoods along the lake have been annexed into the city. More information can be found at the city’s Web site at www.ci.issaquah.wa.us/SMPupdate
