City approves Mall Street vacation
The city of Issaquah approved a vacation of a portion of Mall Street during their regular meeting Monday evening. The portion of the street, located to the west of State Route 900, is used as an local access road for the businesses located there. The Issaquah Highmark Medical Office Building requested that the city vacate an area of 10 feet by 231 feet long which runs along the northern section of the property, leaving 70 feet of space in the right of way, which city staff determined to be plenty for traffic. In return the developers are dedicating 20 feet of property along the southern property line to the city. Also under the agreement the developer will install sidewalks, curbs, gutters and landscaping along both the Maple and Mall property lines. The developer will also be doing extensive landscaping along the site, including a rain garden, an inclusion which met favor with the council.
