New Eastside group pushes for rail trail linking Renton and Snohomish
December 19, 2011 · Updated 9:14 AM
A new community group has formed on the Eastside to lobby for a paved pedestrian and bike trail along the old Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail line.
Eastside Trail Advocates (ETA) held their first informational meeting on Wednesday in Kirkland to express their ideas for the BNSF rail line.
According to the Kirkland Reporter, while the group stresses it is not opposed to a commuter train, or Light Rail, on the line, they would like a paved commuter trail be considered in the corridor as well.
