Seattle Seahawks starting linebacker Leroy Hill was arrested at his Issaquah home on Saturday night and charged with a domestic violence, following a dispute with his girlfriend.
According to a press release issued by the Issaquah Police Department, at 11:54 p.m, an Issaquah Police Officer responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute at Hill's residence in the Talus neighborhood, situated between the eastern boundary of Cougar Mountain Regional Park and the Issaquah-Renton Road.
Issaquah Police told The Reporter this week that Hill himself had dialed 9-1-1.
"Officers determined that there had been a dispute between Mr. Hill and his girlfriend who resides with him at the home," the police press release stated. "Mr. Hill’s girlfriend had obvious marks and injuries indicating an assault had occurred and she alleged Mr. Hill had caused these injuries. Officers took Mr. Hill into custody without incident and he was booked into the Issaquah City Jail for Assault 4th Degree/Domestic Violence."
Issaquah Police Commander Stan Conrad said that a domestic violence incident is classified as a misdemeanor if the injuries caused are not particularly serious. A domestic violence assault becomes a felony if the victim suffers a broken bone, or if a weapon is used.
Hill's girlfriend told police Hill pulled her down a set of stairs by her hair. She alleges Hill left visible scratch marks on her arm, photos of which were included in the police report.
It is not the first time Hill has run afoul of the law. In 2009, he was arrested in Atlanta, Ga. for marijuana possession after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his car at an intersection. The Seahawks, however, were apparently not too concerned about his extra-ciricular activities then - a few days after the arrest for marijuana possession, they resigned him to a 6-year, $38 million dollar deal.
This week, however, Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll advised Hill it was "best for him to take care of some things," and suggested he stay away from the team's voluntary three-day minicamp.
