‘Issaquah Goes Apples’ event set for Saturday

The Downtown Issaquah Association will be hosting “Issaquah Goes Apples,” a community event combining activities in the downtown area including a farm fresh produce pop-up market, walking tours, art experiences, seasonal photo opportunities and more.

Local farmers will be at the Historic Shell Station from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct.21 with a bounty of farm fresh produce. Shop the market, then leave your bags with our concierge while you enjoy family-friendly activities throughout downtown Issaquah.

There’s so much to see and do for during Issaquah Goes Apples:

• Farm fresh pop-up and merchant market at the Historic Shell Station from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. — bring your own produce and shopping bags

• Experience cider making on an old-fashioned apple press

• Art by Fire – spend 15 minutes to make your own blown glass pumpkin. Cost: $55; pre-registration recommended at www.artbyfire.com or call 425-996-8867

• Seasonal photo opportunities: pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks and more will be set up around Downtown Issaquah for you to take your fall family photos

• PT Cruiser Pumpkin Bash at XXX Rootbeer Drive-In beginning at 10 a.m.

• Issaquah History Museum hikes:

Olde Town Mine History Hike from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Cost is $7.50 members, $10 non-members

Hometown Issaquah Hike for families and kids ages 8-13 years from 1-2 p.m. Cost: $5. Register for the hikes at: www.issaquahhistory.org or find them on www.eventbrite.com.

• Downtown Issaquah Association’s community Scarecrow contest: Create a scarecrow with your friends, neighbors, family or business to be displayed through Nov. 1. Judged on originality, creativity and seasonal spirit (must include an apple). A limited number of scarecrow building kits are available at The Downtown Issaquah Association.
