2020 Candidates

What choice?

As an Independent, I like having two, good candidates vying for my vote. Unless the Republicans come up with an alternative, my vote’s a no-brainer.

Here’s what’s known about their candidate, the incumbent president.

President Donald Trump lies. Trump bullies others into lying for him. Trump respects, even admires dictators, craving the kind of loyalty they demand and get. Trump doesn’t like to read, preferring to make policy decisions based upon what Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh think. By his actions, Trump favors his constituents…among them, white nationalists and the wealthy.

Trump’s administration is mired in chaos and back-stabbing shenanigans. Trump’s first term has cost taxpayers time and money in pushing back against policies and actions that have been inane and/or illegal. Trump’s appointees include men like himself who are mired in legal problems.

My Democratic options are, among others, Pete Buttigieg — a well-spoken, Rhodes scholar, veteran, current mayor — and Elizabeth Warren — a Harvard law professor turned senator who helped reign in financial institutions after the Great Recession.

It might be a game changer if the Republicans offered up a comparable option. Someone younger in age, yet ageless in wisdom, grace and moral leadership.
