Police department hosts first-ever National Night Out

Police department to host event August 7.

If you enjoy helicopters, food trucks, police and fire vehicles, outdoor movies, and free family-friendly community events, then join the Sammamish Police Department at National Night Out at Central Washington University on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6:30-9 p.m.

For the first time ever, the Sammamish Police Department is hosting National Night out at Central Washington University. This event is a fun way to meet local first responders, learn crime prevention tips, and discover community resources while also enjoying a bouncy house, a visit from the King County Guardian One helicopter, and a free outdoor movie, “Zootopia,” courtesy of the City of Sammamish Parks department.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with the landing of helicopter, Guardian One. Visitors need to be there early to have the chance to get a photo-op with the helicopter, as it will be taking off promptly at 7:15 p.m.

Dinner and snacks will be available for purchase from Buns on Wheels, Ezell’s Express, Rocky’s Empanadas, Emerald Corn Company, and Beez Neez Sausages. Bring cash, as no ATM will be available onsite. There will not be tables at the event, so community members are encouraged to bring blankets and enjoy a picnic in the grass.

“National Night Out is all about community, crime prevention, and family-fun,” Sammamish Police Chief, Michelle Bennett, said in a press release. “The officers of the Sammamish Police Department can’t wait to meet all of you, and share information about the work of our first responders and tips for making our community safer.”

The City of Sammamish and the Sammamish Police Department would like to thank the following sponsors: Central Washington University, Eastside Catholic, and the King County Sheriff Department.
