Sammamish to hold storm debris drop-off sites for residents on Feb. 18

This Saturday, the city of Sammamish will set up two drop-off sites for residents who have tree debris from the recent winter storm.

Residents may drop off their debris from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Beaver Lake Park ballfields parking lot, located at 2526 244th Ave SE, or at East Sammamish Park at 21300 NE 16th St.

The drop-offs are for Sammamish residents only. Debris drop-off will only be permitted during the allotted time.

The city is encouraging residents with plenty of debris from the storm to participate. Under the city’s contract with collection company Republic Services, residents’ weekly yard waste collection is limited to the containers customers have received. All extra yard waste is collected with a fee, though there will be an exception for this week’s collection only, the city noted in a press release.

“If your yard waste can was not serviced the week of the storm, you may put out double the amount of yard waste at no additional charge,” the city stated in the release. “If you have storm debris in excess of these contractual limits, please take advantage of this storm-debris cleanup event.”
