‘Very Merry Sammamish’ Friday at city commons

The city of Sammamish’s holiday festival A Very Merry Sammamish will take place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday night at the Sammamish Commons Plaza.

This festive family fun event will feature a petting zoo, face-painting, crafts, live entertainment and treats. The event is free and open to the public. Food is available for purchase. A special guest will also be on-site to meet and for photo-ops.

Ample off-site parking is available at Mary Queen of Peace Church.

Sammamish Teen Center to host viewing of ‘Happy’ movie and panel discussion

The city of Sammamish and the Hope Festival will host a free viewing of the movie “Happy” at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Sammamish Teen Center.

Following the movie, a panel of local leaders will hold a discussion on ways to create a happier community.

Refreshments will be available. Those attending are asked to RSVP by emailing thehopefestival@outlook.com.

Tagore Centennial commemorative event Dec. 8 in Sammamish

One hundred years ago, Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore visited Seattle. To celebrate his visit to the Northwest a century ago, the Sammamish Arts Commission is holding a special event at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 at City Hall

The program, free and open to the public, will include live and recorded music and images commemorating Tagore’s visit.

Still revered in India and around the world, Tagore was a famous poet, composer, philosopher, educator, playwright, painter, novelist and children’s book author. He was the first non-Caucasian to win the Nobel Prize.
