Housing developments endanger wildlife in Sammamish | Letter

The recent housing development in the Sammamish, Redmond and Issaquah area has taken too much of the natural wildlife that the area is known for. The recent housing developments have hurt the wildlife, and in areas known for being forests and brush, has been torn away to make room for the new wave of people.

Tearing down the trees isn’t helping global warming or the nature around us. Over the last few years I have personally seen an increase in wildlife sightings in the streets and fields of the city, because of the destruction of their habitat. Animals in the open are more of a threat to us and themselves and we should protect what land they have left for the safety of all.

As a community, we should be making every effort to try and preserve the wildlife in the area so the future of Sammamish has the nature the locals have come to love and not destroy it. The city of Sammamish has rules to protect the wildlife in the area, but a lot of the land has been sold to corporations to make housing developments and in the process has put wildlife in danger.
