UPDATE: Sammamish secured its spot in the state championship game with a 15-1 win over Chehalis in the semi-finals and is now only one win from a title.
The championship game is July 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Freedom Field in Mill Creek.
The District 9 11-year-old champions from Sammamish began the state tournament with a pair of wins and are now two wins from the championship with a game against Federal Way on Wednesday.
After a 10-4 win to open the tournament against Sedro Wooley behind home runs from Will Simpson and Andrew Moore, Cole Hinkelman and his 12 strikeouts paced Sammamish in its 2-0 win over Ridgefield.
A win over Federal Way will give the District 9 champs a spot in the winner's bracket semi-finals while a loss will mean a trip to the loser's bracket, where only six straight wins will keep its run going.
