Swimming Skyline sinks Liberty The Skyline swim team defeated Liberty 109-77 on Sept. 25, improving its record to 3-0. The Spartans won six events, including two relays. Meghan O’Keefe earned a state qualifying time in the 200 IM, winning in 2 minutes, 16.26 seconds. Other first-place finishers included Kelsey Kosenkranius (diving), Brittni Battaglia (100 fly) and Nina Zook (100 back). Nicole Lecoq won two individual events for Liberty and set a state qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.37). Issaquah falls to Newport Swimming powerhouse Newport defeated Issaquah on Sept. 25, winning 112-74. The Eagles nabbed four wins in the league meet, anchored by two victories from Helen Liu. She won the 50 free (25.79) and 100 free (57.37). Liu also anchored the winning 200 free relay team. The group, which included Molly Herman, Kate Halter and Marit Borth, won in 2:01.45. Herman also won the 500 free in 5:42.11. Cross Country Issaquah second at Bellevue Invite The Issaquah boys cross country team finished in second place Saturday at the eight-team Bellevue High School Invitational at Lake Sammamish State Park. The Eagles earned 47 points, finishing behind Eisenhower (Yakima) 19. Jon Wallis had the fastest Eagle time, finishing the 3.1-mile course in a tie for sixth place at 16 minutes, 18 seconds. Isaac Robinson (12th), Rory Montgomery (15th) and Turner Wiley (17th) also earned top 20 spots. The Issaquah girls finished in seventh, with 170 points. Soccer Eastlake wins pair of games The Eastlake soccer team rattled off its third straight win Tuesday night, beating Bothell 4-1. Four different players scored, including Emma Levy, MacKenzie Garrett, Emily Hurd and Kristin Dorr. The Wolves defeated Plateau rival Skyline 3-1 on Sept. 25. Levy put Eastlake on the board in the fifth minute. Hurd broke a 1-1 tie in the 56th minute on an unassisted goal, while Kristin Dorr tacked on an insurance goal in the 61st minute. Spartans hang on for victory Skyline scored two first-half goals and held on for a 2-1 victory over Ballard on Tuesday. Kiara Williams connected on assists to Coral Anderson and Emily Anderson, helping the Spartans improve to 3-1 in league and 4-2 overall. Eagles claim third straight win Issaquah defeated Lake Washington 3-1 on Tuesday, improving its record to 5-2-1 overall. The Eagles trailed 1-0 at halftime, but second-half goals from Molly Gottlieb, Kristen Maris and Dayna Talley lifted Issaquah to its third straight win. Golf Eastlake edges Skyline Kevin Penner shot a 5-under-par 31 at the Plateau Club on Tuesday, helping Eastlake beat Skyline 194-197. Darius Lalier led Skyline, shooting a 38.
