Issaquah lacrosse team claims Plateau Challenge

Issaquah Youth Lacrosse hosted 10 senior select teams last Friday and Saturday from as far away as Clackamas, Ore., in the inaugural Plateau Challenge Senior Select Lacrosse Tournament.
The games, which attracted a large number of fans and 200-plus 7th and 8th grade select players, were held at the Sammamish and Eastlake Community fields.
The title game matched two undefeated teams, Issaquah A and Mercer Island, in a battle that was won, 7-6, by Issaquah in the final seconds on a score from attackman Cannon Gardner. In addition to the game winning shot, Gardner scored four goals and had one assist.
The top three teams, based upon their win/loss record, were Issaquah A (5-0), Mercer Island (4-1) and Eastlake (3-2).
