Issaquah rebounds in big way over Bothell | Girls basketball

Issaquah ended a two-game slide Wednesday night with a bang, beating Bothell 83-37. The Eagles struggled early, trailing 13-10 after the first quarter, but that was quickly put to rest. The Eagles scored 23, 25 and 25 points over the next three quarters for the big victory. All of Issaquah's 10 varsity players scored, led by Domi Mendezona's 16 points. Mackenzie Schiltz and Maddey Pflaumer added 13 and 12, respectively. Fourth-ranked Issaquah improved to 11-2 in the KingCo 4A and 14-3 overall. The Eagles play Eastlake at 6:30 p.m., Friday at EHS. They close the regular season out next week with road games against Newport and Skyline. Eastlake stays in playoff hunt Eastlake bounced back from a tough home loss to Skyline, beating Inglemoor 71-51 Wednesday night. The Wolves erupted for 28 third-quarter points to pull away from the Vikings. Sophomore Kendra Morrison scored a team-high 22 points for Eastlake, while senior Alyssa Charlston added 18. Eastlake improved to 6-7 in league and 10-7 overall. They are currently tied with three other teams (Skyline, Lake Washington, Roosevelt) for the fifth- through eighth-place spots. Inglemoor is a game out at 5-8, in ninth place. Only the top eight teams make the league tournament. Eastlake hosts Issaquah at 6:30 p.m., Friday. Skyline falls just shy of upset over Woodinville Skyline had third-ranked Woodinville against the ropes Wednesday night, coming up just shy of a big victory. The Spartans led the Falcons 41-40 headed into the fourth quarter, before falling 54-51. Kassia Fortier scored a game-high 21 points for Skyline, while Rachel Shim added 10. Woodinville was paced by Melissa Gilkey's 19 points. Skyline dropped to 6-7 in league and 9-8 overall with the loss. The Spartans host second-ranked Newport at 6:30 p.m., Friday. They close the season out next week with home games against Redmond and Issaquah. EC falls to Rainier Beach Eastside Catholic couldn't recover from a slow start Wednesday night, falling 48-42 to Rainier Beach. The Crusaders, who were down 23-15 at halftime, battled back to within two points at the end of the third quarter, but couldn't complete the push in the fourth quarter. Michaela O'Rourke led EC with 14 points, and Sarah Hill contributed 13. The Crusaders fell to 4-9 in league and 7-10 overall with the loss.
