KingCo officials decided Monday not to accept Eastside Catholic into its conference for the 2010-2011 school year.
"Eastside Catholic did not receive enough votes to gain entrance to the KingCo Conference," said Terry Agnew, president of KingCo athletic directors.
Eastside needed 80 percent approval from league principals to be accepted into the KingCo 3A/2A. Final voting numbers were not made public.
While disappointed, school officials still have their hopes high for the future.
“We will continue to build our relationships with the KingCo conference through non-league games, and other community building activities with the hope that they will see us as a viable member of the conference in the future," said Eastside Catholic athletic director Lance Gatter.
Eastside Catholic administrators and board members proposed the move to KingCo principals and athletic directors in early January. A committee of KingCo representatives then conducted a site visit of Eastside Catholic and met with representatives from the school.
Eastside Catholic, which has an enrollment between 400-500 students, will continue to operate as a member of the Metro 3A conference where it has been for more than two decades.
