Paddling to first-place finishes in the water

Rowers compete in a coveted event.

The Sound Rowers races, which consisted of three different events — a three-mile, six-mile and a 13-mile course — took place on April 13 at Sunset Beach on Lake Sammamish.

Carson Hayes of Seattle earned first place in the three-mile course with a time of 22:05.5. Shaun Koos (Wenatchee) cruised to first place in the six-mile course, clocking a time of 1:02.45.3. The duo of Rob Luliano/Peter Hirtle registered a first-place showing in the 13-mile course, tallying a time of 1:39.56.1.
