City snowplows may be needed this weekend as forecasters say a cold front moving in Friday could bring snow to higher elevations.

Forecasters are now predicting an approaching cold front could bring the first snows of the season to Issaquah and Sammamish.

The National Weather Service released a weather bulletin advising a chilling wind and rain during the day could gradually give way to snow as temperatures fall, reaching elevations as low as 500 feet by Friday evening. Temperatures are expected to stay in the low 40s and fall to near freezing, though no snow accumulation or ice is expected in the foothill neighborhoods or the Sammamish Plateau.

Higher elevations on Tiger, Squak and Cougar mountains are expected to see snow throughout the day and accumulate at least 1 to 2 inches.

Drier, more tranquil weather and overcast skies expected late Friday and into the Saturday before rain is expected to return again on Sunday.
