Highlands Day 2010

The 12th annual Highlands Day began with overcast skies and a colorful kids and dogs parade. It ended with sunshine and a drenched councilman.
More than 40 residents donned festive attire to walk, ride, scoot and parade their way around the Issaquah Highlands Village Green.
Winning parade entrants included Tabi Wan for best costume, Emily Kumo for best bike, Rachel Rosewater for best scooter, and Kora Heinle for best dog. Twenty-nine booths circled the green with information and treats from local businesses and clubs, but the grassy center was the real hub of activity, where there were pony rides on the south side and weed-eating goats on the north side.
An 18-foot water slide at the west entrance competed with a carousel bounce house to the east. Perhaps the most popular game was the dunk tank where residents could try to dunk their favorite highlands staff member.
The final dunk tank shift of day went to special guest and city councilman, Mark Mullet. It’s not every day that constituents get to express their opinions in such a drenching fashion.
