Former Eastlake softball player on national watch list
Kimi Pohlman, a 2008 graduate of the Bear Creek School and softball player at Eastlake during her senior year, has been named to a 50-player national watch list for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.
The Amateur Softball Association of America released the list this week and also included her Husky teammate, Nikia Williams. Pohlman started 52 of 53 games last season for Washington and led the team in at-bats (183), runs scored (57), hits (79) and batting average (.432).
She and Williams were named offensive co-MVP last season.
Sammamish Plateau Wrestling Club holding registration
Wrestlers in grades K-12 can participate with the Sammamish Plateau Wrestling Club on Tuesday, Mar. 6 at 6 p.m. at Beaver Lake Middle School.
Training sessions will feature coaches from three local schools as well as Sammie Henson, a Silver Medalist at the Sydney Olympics and a world champion. Gus Kiss of Skyline, Dexter Beckstead of Eastlake and Dennis Reddinger of Eastside Catholic will all be involved in instruction of both freestyle and Greco wrestling techniques.
Cost is $75 and participants also need a valid USA wrestling card, which can be secured at www.themat.com. The program lasts for roughly 12 weeks, from Mar. 6 until the final week of May.

Four from Sammamish capture second at national lacrosse tournament
Four students from Sammamish were part of the Seattle Starz 7th/8th grade team that captured second place at the Sandstorm Lacrosse Tournament in Palm Springs, Calif.
The team outscored its opponents 45-11 in a run to the championship game, which included a win over last year’s tournament champs.
