Sammamish man takes own life after high-speed chase in Whatcom County

Bellingham radio station 790 KGMI reportedĀ that a Sammamish man shot and killed himself at 1:20 a.m., Tuesday after a high-speed chase in Whatcom County.
Speeds reportedly reached 100 mph on I-5 before the fleeing driver exited the interstate.
The chase continued on several county roads before the man, driving a green Dodge van, allegedly shot himself in the chest with a .40 caliber handgun.
The driver was identified by The Bellingham Herald as 33-year-oldĀ Wesley H. Collins.
