Skyline’s boys and Issaquah’s girls track and field teams both came within five points of capturing the league championship behind championship performances in a multitude of events.

Kansas-bound Drew Matthews won the 400 meters for the Spartans while teammate Jamon Rogers picked up a win in the 800. The pair ran with Andrew Millet and Trevon Clark to win the 1,600 meter relay as well.

Ryan Lewis captured the 100 meter title for Eastlake and teamed with Drew Lewis, Liam Doyle and Colton Teglovic to win the 400 meter relay. Gino Bresolin took the discus title by over two feet with a top throw of 156-04.

Issaquah’s Jorell Dorsey had one of the best individual days of anyone at the meet, winning titles in the long jump and triple jump.

Garfield won the boys team title with 92 total points.

Issaquah finished in second place in the team scoring, just ahead of Skyline.

The Eagles girls took the 800 meter relay with the team of Mack Wieburg, Juliana da Cruz, Madison Callan and Gabrielle Gevers, nipping Skyline by three one-hundredths of a second. Amanda Chalfant replaced da Cruz in the 1,600 meter relay, which Issaquah also won just in front of the Spartans.

Eva Perry added a huge victory in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet six inches to give Issaquah its final individual championship of the day.

Skyline finished in the top two spots in the 400 meters, with Alexis Daugherty winning in front of Kaylie Greninger. Geneva Ecola, a freshman, won the long jump championship for the Spartans with a mark of 16-00.75.

Eastlake’s Lauren Files ran away with the 300 meter hurdles title by over two full seconds in 45.69.

The 4A bi-district meet takes place May 16 and 18 at Marysville-Pilchuck High School with state berths on the line.

Inglemoor won the team scoring with 97 total points.
