The Issaquah Schools Foundation is encouraging residents to participate in the Community Rewards Program offered by Fred Meyer. Local schools benefit when people shop at the store.

The program begins Feb. 3, but residents can register now by going online at at www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards and linking their Fred Meyer Reward Card to the foundation. Other reward card benefits are not affected by the school project.

The schools foundation is No. 91119 in the program.

The foundation also noted that it raised more than $1.5 million in 2013 to support new initiatives including Start Strong and the Port Blakely Environmental Stewardship Program. Money also expanded the district’s VOICE Mentor Program, Pre-K/Kindergarten Summer School and Basic Student Needs fund.
