Issaquah is headed to the 4A boys soccer state tournament, and will enter the field of 16 as the 4A KingCo champions for the first time after beating rival Skyline in penalty kicks 4-2 May 8 in the conference title game.
The Eagles led for most of the second half, before an own goal in the 77th minute knotted things at one each, a score that remained in tact after overtime.
Issaquah goalie Saif Kerawala turned in another standout performance, stopping two shots in the penalty round, and making another to help his team to its first 4A conference title.
Coach Kyle Tatro, in only his first year as varsity head coach, now takes his team to face the fourth seed from districts 3 and 4 in the first round of state May 19 or 20.
Skyline is still very much in play for its fifth straight state tournament berth. The Spartans meet Garfield, which survived a loser-out game against Redmond, for the second seed from the district.
The loser of that game will travel to take on a Wesco foe in the crossover game for the final spot to state.
