Literacy support teachers and members of the Issaquah School District's Teaching and Learning Department met with international literacy consultant and author Lucy Calkins at the Teacher’s College Writing Institute at Columbia University on July 1. The district’s elementary writing curriculum is based on Calkins' work and teachers had an opportunity to learn from Calkins and other educators on the best practices in literacy and writing instruction.
